Funeral services for Wilbert E. Roland, age 90, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Morning Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Harold B. Nash, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Mel Haven Cemetery with the Masonic Lodge Brothers serving as ushers and pallbearers. Visitation (remarks and comments) will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m, Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Wilbert passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab.
Wilbert was born on August 31, 1932 in Sulphur Springs, TX the son of Alonzo Roland and Annie Booze Roland. He married Bobbye J. Wright on June 17, 1956. Wilbert served in the United States Army and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a businessman and a very successful car salesman. Wilbert was a devoted member of Morning Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and was in the male chorus, he was a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Seasoned Saint’s and an Intercessory Prayer Warrior.
In addition to his wife Bobbye, He is survived by his children, Cynthia “Nell” Brookins, Wanda Gail Hunter (Glenn), Gilbert Roland (Loletha), Donnie Roland (Kimberly) and Reg E. Roland (Wynelle), 13, grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He has 9 brothers, James Roland, JB Roland, Robert Roland, Ervin Roland, O’Neal Roland, Tommy Roland, Oscar Roland, Arthur Roland, and Walter Roland, 3 sisters, Anita Crook, Rachel Pitts, and Olivia Nash.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
