Tolbert Gene Boatman

Funeral Services for Tolbert Gene Boatman, age 87 of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 23, 2024, at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. B.J. Teer officiating. Bobby Clark, John Merrill, Deano Clark, Kason Clark, Bill Frazier, and Timmy Lester will be serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Weaver Cemetery. Tolbert passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Tolbert was born on December 19, 1937, to Elmer and Edna Boatman in Dallas, Texas. He married Gwendolyn Harris Boatman on December 1, 1957, and she preceded him in death on April 22, 2012. Tolbert then married Julia Wilkerson on July 4, 2020, in Sulphur Springs, Texas. He was the owner of Boatman Garage Doors for 61 years. Tolbert loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Julia Boatman; sons, Toby Boatman and his wife, Sandy and Todd Boatman; grandchildren, Josh Boatman and his wife, Tye, Nathan Boatman and his wife, Shayna, Ethan Boatman and his wife, Victoria, and his granddaughter-in-law, Ashten Boatman; great-grandchildren, Emma Boatman, Bayler Boatman, Brayden Boatman, Brett Boatman, Aubrey Boatman, T. Boatman, and Ruger Boatman.

In addition to his first wife, Gwendolyn and his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Joe Boatman and one grandson, Jacob Boatman.
