“Stan the Man,” as many called him, grew up in Nacogdoches, TX, and attended Central Heights Schools. He was a gifted baseball player from early childhood. He was on the 2002 state championship team of 14-year-olds, Dixie League, Nacogdoches Youth Baseball, coached by his grandfather, Ken Beck. Stan was an avid catch-and-release fisherman, but fish wasn’t his favorite food. He was a computer whiz from early teens, and built his own computers, as well as those for others.

Stan worked in the logging trade, restaurant management, and in the flooring business after he relocated to the Port Arthur area. He was starting his own computer repair business at the time of his death.

Stan was a member of Perritte Memorial UMC, Nacogdoches. His favorite scripture passage was Mark 4, the Parable of the Sower.

Survivors are his parents; a beloved son, Michael, of Tyler, TX; sisters, Allison Beck of Denton, TX, Molly Hartung of Frisco, TX, and Brandi Hollock of O’Fallon, MO; brother, John Hartung of Frisco, TX; maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Janice Beck of Sulphur Springs, TX; paternal grandmother, Marlene and Rob Fortner of DeSoto, MO; maternal bio-grandmother, Bev Manning of Yakima, WA; his special love, Merritt Branick, and two special boys, Branick and Jackson James. He was loved by aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.
