Funeral Services for Rosella Faye Green will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Seymore Cemetery.
Rosella Faye Green was born on July 25th, 1940 to Henry Paul Ward and Tiney Maggie (Owen’s) Ward. She was the youngest of two children and adored her brother Kenneth Harvey Ward who was 10 years her senior.
She met the love of her life, James Thomas Green, while working as a Property Clerk for the Dallas Fire Department. They were married Jan 8, 1961. They had one child, Scarlett Faye Green.
Rose loved her family and rarely missed a ballgame or any other event that involved her daughter Scarlett. Scarlett considered her Mom, not only her best friend, but also the very best role model that she could have ever hoped to have.
Rosie, as her family called her, was always there to lend a hand if someone needed help. She often fed Scarlett’s teammates and was also host to any of Scarlett’s friends for Thanksgiving if they did not have family or were unable to spend the holiday with family. Her house was always open and welcoming.
Rose was one of the founding members of the LPBT (Ladies Pro Bowling Tour). She bowled for many years and made countless friends as well as many friends that were thought of as family along the way.
Rose was an avid hunter and fisherman. She could spot a deer or bird or catch a fish when no one else could. Lucky for Scarlett, her Mom’s skills in these areas were passed on to her.
Rose and James celebrated 63 years of marriage this year. These two are the absolute gold standard for love and teamwork. James spent every night of the entire 4 month stay at the hospital with her. This is just one example of the love and devotion that they shared.
Rose passed away on Dec 7th 2024. She had fought and beaten several hard bouts with cancer in the last 45 years of her life. Her little body simply could not win this time. Make no mistake, Rosie’s fight and her refusal to give up, including fighting a diagnosis over 25 years ago with less than a 5% chance to live more than 6 months, should serve as a reminder to all to never give up. Her wishes were to go down swinging and she did. She is now in heaven looking over her family and friends just as she always has.
Rose is survived by her husband James T Green, her daughter Scarlett Faye Green and partner, Jamie Sue Mazzella, her “adopted” son Wayne Travis. She is also survived by her great niece Brandee Tobias and great great niece Jasmine Jordan along with many other wonderful friends and family members.
The family would like to thank the loving and caring nurses and staff at T Boone Pickens Cancer Hospital -5th floor for the wonderful care that she and James received during her long stay.
To all of Rose’s family and friends, please know that she loved you very much and would have stayed with us longer if she could have.
Finally, the family would like to request those who would like, to please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home. www.westoaksfuneralhome.com
