Rex O'Dell

Graveside services for Ronald Rex O’Dell, age 82,  will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Restlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Peter McNabb and Toney Hurley officiating.  Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at West Oaks Funeral Home.  Pallbearers will be Toney Hurley, Monty Tipps, Rusty Stillwaggner, Ron Plaxco, Eddy McGregor, Sonny Rogers, Jerry Blount and Joe Kelley.  Honorary pallbearers are Mike Smith, Larry Blount and Bill Bailey, Sr.  Rex passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023 at his home.  He was born on December 26, 1940 in Pine Forest the son of Warren O’Dell and Georgia Rogers O’Dell.  He married Barbara Graves on August 29, 1964 in Sulphur Springs.  Rex worked for  Sherwin Williams and then went to work for Verizon where he also retired.  Rex was an avid collector and trader of everything.  Rex is survived by his wife, Barbara O’Dell, son Jeromy O’Dell and Tammy, grandchildren, Molly and Mattie O’Dell and his two little kids, Murphy the dog and Lola the cat. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brother’s Jim, Alton and Paul O’Dell, two sister’s Evelyn Windham and Catherine Christenberry. The family would like to thank Morrissa Bain, Dionna Bassham, Crissy Reneau and Lacy Rainey for the love and care they gave to Rex.  Memorials may be made to the Sulphur Springs Animal Shelter, 1313 Hillcrest Dr., Sulphur Springs, TX 75482.  Arrangements are under the direction of West Oak Funeral Home. www.westoaksfuneralhome.com
