Louis H. Ardis

Louis Harris Ardis, 91, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, passed away on July 30, 2026, at Longhorn Village Nursing Home in Austin, Texas. Services are currently pending.

Harris was born February 9, 1935, in Sulphur Springs to Marie Harris Ardis and Abel Boyett “AB” Ardis. He is preceded in death by his parents, his older brother, Robert Ardis, and his younger brother, Joe Ardis. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Williamson Ardis, his sister, Mary Ardis McMillan of Plano, his son and daughter, William “Bill” Ardis and Ann Marie Ardis Nye, both of Austin, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Harris graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1953, where he was part of the football team and met Patsy. They married in 1954 and remained together for the next 71 years until his death. He first attended East Texas Teacher’s College and then matriculated to Texas A&M University in Bryant, Texas, where he completed his Bachelor of Engineering degree. He was part of the inaugural 1958 class of Alpha Pi Mu’s industrial engineering honor society.

After graduation, Harris moved to Houston, where he was employed with ARDCO Manufacturing. Through his work in the industry, he traveled across the globe, visiting over 100 countries in his lifetime. He later became CEO of Magic Aire manufacturers in Wichita Falls, Texas, and later sat on the board of B&P Manufacturing in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

After retirement, Harris returned home to Sulphur Springs. He enjoyed participating at First United Methodist Church, where he was a lifelong member. He also supported civic life, mentored fellow entrepreneurs, and joyfully spent time with his family. Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home at FUMC, and burial will be at City Cemetery afterwards.
