Joseph "Joe" Orland Sandifer

Joseph Orland Sandifer (Joe), age 89, of Sulphur Springs, passed away Monday, November 13, 2023 at his home surrounded by family. Joe was born October 26, 1934 to Lenuel Johnson Sandifer and Nora McCandlish Sandifer in Lake Providence, Louisiana. He joined the US Navy at age 17. He served on the U.S.S. Sutton during the Korean Conflict. He returned home and at the age of 19 married Anna Faye Sutterfield. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on October 4th of this year. To this union 5 children were born. He was a faithful member of Triumph Christian Center of Sulphur Springs, Texas. He was an humble man and every chance he got, he would always tell anyone about the goodness of God. He was a worshiper and loved to sing. He lived a saved and holy life, and encouraged others to do the same. He was a member of Iron Worker Local #84 in Houston, Texas for many years. He also worked for Harris County Texas as a guard at the Washburn Tunnel at the Houston Ship Channel. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Lenuel J. Sandifer and Nora McCandlish Sandifer, brothers Huey Sandifer, Doyle Sandifer and Leon Jackson Sandifer; sisters Juanita Lopez and Iredell Jolley. Also preceded in death by son, Joseph Michael Sandifer, granddaughter, Tricia Lynne Byrum and grandson, Casey Daryl Byrum. Joe Sandifer is survived by his wife, Anna Faye Sandifer of Sulphur Springs; his children, Vickie D. Sandifer of Sulphur Springs, bonus daughter, Rhonda Sandifer Clonts, Cindy and Danny Byrum of Conroe, Texas, Lisa and Kevan Brown of Sulphur Springs and Joel and Heidi Sandifer of Raeford, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, four sisters, many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Memorial service will be 1 pm, Saturday, November 25th at Triumph Christian Center of Sulphur Springs, 1318 Jackson St. N., Sulphur Springs, Texas.
