JoAnn Kell Obituary

Funeral Service for JoAnn Kell, age 84, will be at 2:00 p.m. at Hope Family Fellowship on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, with Rev. Rusty Posey officiating. Nicholas Moore, Jordon Moore, Mason Blades, Maddox Blades, Dustin Blades, James Gaunder, and Ray Stanley Cook, Jr. will be serving as pallbearers. Interment will follow the service at Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at West Oaks Funeral Home.

JoAnn (Penn) Kell passed away on Friday, January2, 2026 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. She was born on January 14, 1941, in Cisco, Texas to Calvin George Penn and Annie May Owings Penn. JoAnn married Jesse (Sonny) Kell on January 9, 1960, in Spearman, Texas.

She and Sonny lived in Spearman for over 55 years. JoAnn’s first job was working at Gordon’s Drug in Spearman, JoAnn was known to many in Spearman as “The Avon Lady” she sold Avon for 38 years and received many achievements and awards. She served in the church as a Sunday school secretary, cleaning lady, nursery worker, and greeter. After retiring, JoAnn and Sonny moved to Sulphur Springs, Texas in 2015. She attended Hope Family Fellowship in Sulphur Springs for over 10 years and attended Terrific Tuesday’s and Pioneer Crossing for several years. JoAnn was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, gardening, shopping, collecting dolls, and spending time with her family.

JoAnn is survived by her loving husband, Jesse (Sonny) Kell of Sulphur Springs, Texas; daughter, Julie Moore of Sulphur Springs, Texas; granddaughter, Amber Blades and husband, Dustin of Sulphur Springs, Texas; grandsons, Jordon Moore of Sulphur Springs, Texas, and Nicholas Moore of Sulphur Springs, Texas; great-grandsons, Mason and Maddox Blades of Sulphur Springs, Texas, as well as several nieces, nephews, and loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Annie Penn; sister, Rheta May Brown; brother, Bobby Penn, and sister, Rose Dawn Gaunder.
