Funeral Service for Jimmy Wayne Smith will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rudy Ellis officiating. Active pallbearers will be Rodney Hawkins, Jameson Hawkins, Brandon Edwards, Bryan Smith, Kerry Wright and Kalton Okeke. Honorary Pallbearers will be O.L. Hawkins, Lee Grant, Glenn Grant and the Class of 1971. Flower Bearers will be Brandi Okeke, Lakia Booker, La’Modrick Johnson and De’Kevian Smith. Jimmy passed away peacefully at his home on June 3, 2024.
Jimmy Wayne Smith was born on August 23, 1953 to the late Oscar “Bud” Smith and Helen Ruth Smith in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
He is survived by his daughter, Kawana Smith, son Derrick Smith (Vickie) of Sulphur Springs, Texas. Grandchildren Brandi Okeke (Kalton) of Mansfield, Texas, La’Kia Booker, La’Modrick Johnson, De’Keivan Smith, Trae Smith of Sulphur Springs, Texas. Great-grandchildren A’Nilya Wade, Amani Wade, Kamdyn Okeke, Katlon Okeke, Jr. and Kacii Mosley Johnson. Two sisters Lajuanda Doss and Mary Ann Grant both of Sulphur Springs, Texas. Three brothers O.L. Hawkins (Grace) of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Lee Grant (Kim) of Fate, Texas, Glenn Grant (Ann) of Dallas, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. As well as special friend Brother Timothy Ransom.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife Brady Jo Smith, Father Oscar “Bud” Smith Jr. and Mother Helen Ruth Smith and Mary Smith, brother Kenneth Grant and one sister Patricia Ann Edwards.
