Gayland Fitzgerald Berry was born to Freddie Berry Wade and Charles Young on December 1, 1968, in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
He accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Cherry Grove Baptist Church under the pastorage of Elder Curtis Rose.
He was employed at Berger as a supervisor for several years and worked at Saputo until his health failed.
Gayland transitioned into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview, Texas.
He leaves behind his mother, Freddie Berry Wade; his father, Charles Young (Elaine); brother, Eric Berry (Tammie); sister, Tonya Berry; niece, Tia Berry; nephew, Tobias Berry (Julia); two great-nephews, Malcolm, and Myles Berry; child, Detrick Clayton; bonus daughter, Nevaeh and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Service for Gayland will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Cherry Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow the service at North Caney Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday October 20, 2025, at West Oaks Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Willie MaeHarris.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
