Esther May Johnson

Funeral services for Esther May Johnson, age 79, of Frisco, formerly of Cumby, will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, January 27, 2023 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Cumby.  Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at West Oaks Funeral Home.  Esther passed away on Monday, January 23, 2023 at home surrounded by family.  She was born on April 23, 1943 in Dallas, TX, the daughter of Harry Weitzman and Thelma Pearl Weitzman.  She was married to John Thomas Johnson for 45 years and he preceded her in death on May 2, 2016.  Esther worked for Fireman Funds Insurance for many years. She also worked for the Dallas ISD working as an aid for Special Ed and driving a school bus.  Esther was an active member at Corner Stone Baptist Church where she cooked and cleaned and she also volunteered at the Cumby food bank.  Esther is survived by her three daughters, Tammy Corey and husband Mark, Deborah Byrd and husband Ronnie and Melissa Jefferson and husband Thomas, grandchildren, Christa Johnson, Brittni Corey, Ashlei Jefferson, Brandon Byrd and Rylei Jefferson, great-grandchildren, Taeya Johnson and Jayden Massiah.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Benjamin Weitzman and Seymore Weitzman.  Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home. www.westoaksfuneralhome.com
