In Loving Memory of Ellen Sue Clayton
June 8, 1942 – October 12, 2025
With profound love and gratitude, the family of Ellen Sue Clayton celebrates her beautiful life and peaceful passing on October 12, 2025, at the age of 83. Born to Charlie and Delia Wade on June 8, 1942, in Sulphur Springs, TX, Ellen Sue lived a life defined by strength and generosity of spirit.
A gifted and successful cosmetologist, Ellen Sue built her career and reputation in both Los Angeles, California, and Como, Texas, where she touched countless lives through her artistry, compassion, and warm personality. Her clients and friends often became like family — drawn in by her humor and her genuine care for others. She was married to the late Barris Sims and Leon Clayton. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Billy Edward Wade, Ruby Dale Clayton, Mae Francis “Tate” Hall, and Lou Ann Pride.
Ellen Sue is lovingly survived by her devoted daughters Toleia Sims, Tammy Sims Demery (Tyrone Demery), Carol Daily and one son, Gerald Clayton; cherished granddaughters, Mariah Demery and Aijalon Pryor; beloved grandsons, Trevon Washington and Marco Flores; precious great-granddaughter Evie Martin, who brought endless joy to her later years, aunt Billye Marie Lewis from Sulphur Springs, aunt Eunice Finney from Arlington, nieces Sophia Noiel, Stephanie Thomas (Mark Thomas), Shelita Stokes (Charles), LaShun Hall, Tinershia Cash, nephew Michael Hall and a host of other relatives most notably in Texas and Kansas.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, October 18th at 11:00 a.m. at MLK Church of Christ, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the remarkable woman she was.
Forever in our hearts — her love lives on in all of us.
