Funeral Service for Eddie Charles Askew will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Morning Chapel Baptist Church with W. Scott Pannell officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mel-Haven Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation.
Eddie Charles Askew was born to parentage of James Andrew and Floretta McQueen Askew, the eldest of seven children, on July 23,1947, in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Eddie graduated from Douglas High School in 1965 and accepted Christ at an early age uniting with Morning Chapel Baptist Church. He was employed with Austin Bridge Industries for many years along side his father. He later became groundskeeper for Mel-Haven Cemetery under the leadership of his uncle, Perry Cotton, until his health failed him.
On February 27, 1971, he united in holy matrimony to Merry Christine Ransom who preceded him in death, and to this union two children were born, Lee and Vincent Ransom. He also shared three sons, Cody, Kerry, and Gary with his long-time love, Dianne Williams who also preceded him in death.
Eddie passed away on October 4, 2024, at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
Eddie leaves to cherish his memory four sons, Lee, Vincent (Angela), Cody (Kim), and Gary. One brother, Ben Askew, Sr. and four sisters, Barbara Askew Fannin (Bruce), Beverly Askew Jackson (Andrew), Michelle Askew Gasaway and Shannon Askew Kemp. He also leaves eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, also uncles, aunts, nephews nieces, cousins and friends.
