Charles Smith Obituary

Funeral services for Charles Glen Smith, age 82, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 3, 2019 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Garry Jordan officiating and Cody Lee assisting. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Delta County with Cody Lee, Mason Smith, Jason Davis, Kenny Smith, Tracy Smith, and Randy Smith serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Smith and Andy Lowen. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., prior to service time. Charles passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Christus Mother Frances in Tyler. He was born on March 5, 1937 in Hunt County, the son of William Burton Smith and Mildred Marie Alley Smith. He was a tool engineer for Rockwell Int for 42 years. He married Melvanda James on March 8, 1958 in Commerce, TX. She preceded him in death on June 15, 2018. He enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, playing golf, fishing, and working in his yard. He is survived by son, Steve Smith and wife Sherri of Sulphur Springs, daughter, Yvonne Lowen and husband Andy of Sulphur Springs, grandchildren, Cody Lee and wife Kelli of Sulphur Springs, Maci Smith of Austin, Mason Smith of Austin, and great grandchildren, Uriah and Paisley Lee. In addition to his wife, Melvanda Smith, Charles was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Wesley Ryan Peugh, and brothers, Richard and Kenneth Smith.
