David Daniel Rushin Obituary

Funeral services for David Daniel Rushin, age 91, of Edgewood, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jimmy Rogers officiating.  Interment will follow at Shooks Chapel Cemetery with David Rushin, Joseph Winchester, Matthew Winchester, Scott Winchester, Joe Cagle and BJ Anderson serving as pallbearers.  Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at West Oaks Funeral Home.

David passed away peacefully in his sleep April 6, 2024.  He was born November 20, 1932 in Sylvester, Texas, the son of Andy Thomas Rushin and Lillie Pearle Combs Rushin.  He married Beatrice Marie Smith on September 1, 1951.  He was married to the love of his life for 59 ½ years until her passing February 15, 2011. They worked hard to raise a family that adores and respects them.

David was involved in FFA and basketball during his high school years before his graduation from Cumby High School.  After graduating from business school in Tyler, Texas, he started his career at William Cameron Company in sales.  After working hard and learning the business, he established Rushin Truss Company.  He continued his passion for financial investments by trading his own stocks during retirement.  The joy of his life, in addition to his family, was his farm.  His cows were not livestock, they were pets.  He passed this love and care of animals onto his granddaughter and grandchildren.  David was a Christian and was involved in church his entire life.  He was a member of the Canton Lions Club.

Survivors include his daughter, Debby Edmonds of Grand Prairie, Texas, granddaughter Stephanie Winchester and husband Joseph of Burleson, Texas, grandson David Rushin of Atlanta, Texas, great-grandchildren Matthew and Lilly Winchester of Burleson, Texas.  David is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Cagle, of Tyler, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. Other survivors include extended family Scott and Melody Winchester, Cody Winchester, and Nancy Peery.

David is preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Rushin, his son Donald Rushin, and his parents.  Also preceding him in death are siblings Otis Rushin, Mary Callahan, Alice Burnett, JA “Junior” Rushin, and Bobbie Sue Campbell, and nieces and nephews.
