Funeral services for Ervin Earl Smith, age 78, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 25, 2010 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Michael Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Ridgeway Cemetery with Bryan Macaluso, Kevin O'Reilly, Robert Looney, Shane Woods, Rick Miler and Gary Doss serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m., prior to service time. Mr. Smith passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Smith was born on March 4, 1932 in Woodville, OK, the son of Earl Leonar and Evelyn (Murr) Smith. He married Beth Herman on June 26, 1953 in Dallas, TX. She survives. Mr. Smith worked for the Safeway Stores as maintenance manager for 36 years and was of the Baptist faith. Other survivors include one son Kirk Smith and wife Karen of Rockwall, one daughter Sylvia Smith and husband Rick Miller of Dallas, one brother, Gerald Smith and wife Sherry of Katy, 7 grandchildren, Bryan Macaluso and wife Karen of McKinney, Sharon Looney and husband Robert of Royse City, Tabetha Woods and husband Shane of Mesquite, Keith Smith and wife Stacy of Washington State, Kevin O'Reilly and wife Amber of Plano, Josh and Jay Smith of Garland and Kristi Smith of Austin, nine great-grandchildren, Jerod Looney, Kameron Woods, Allison Macaluso, Averi Macaluso, Asher Macaluso, Mathew Smith, Ryan Smith, Cooper Smith and Dalton Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Keith Smith, grandson, Matthew Kirk Smith, sister Bonnie Laird and father and mother-in-law W. C. "Cotton" and Opal (Wilhite) Herman.
