Funeral services for Vernon Dale Petty, age 81, of Cumby, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Burns and Rev. Duncan Graham officiating. Interment will follow in Cumby Cemetery with Ricky Evans, David Gaines, Leon Higginbotham, Brett Petty, L. D. White and Larry Vaughan serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Mr. Petty passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Petty was born on March 26, 1928 in Cumby the son of Wylie Vernon and Ruby Dee (Plunkett) Petty. He married Patsy Barnes on August 2, 1950 in Cumby. She survives. Mr. Petty was a life long dairyman and a member of First Baptist Church in Campbell. Other survivors include two sons, Ronny Petty and wife Mary of Cumby, Jeff Petty and wife Laurie of Dallas, one daughter, Janice Petty of Cumby, one brother, Dane Petty and wife Catherine of Cumby, one sister, Janelle Dean of Cumby, grandchildren, Christy Petty, Tara Petty, Lisa Petty, Ethan Petty and Sarah Petty. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be made to the Cumby Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 734, Cumby, Texas 75433 or to the Brashear Baptist Church, P. O.
