Funeral services for Archie Roy Cooey, age 57, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 5, 2010 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Moore and Rev. Richard Deteau officiating. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the Hopkins County Military Coalition at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sulphur Springs with Bryan Cooey, Billy Cooey, Ryan Cooey, Nolan Cooey, Brad Bills and Hutch Bills serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Mitchell, Chris Harmon, Brad Harmon, Curtis Harmon and Ralph Garcia. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 4, 2010 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Mr. Cooey passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at the Veterans Hospital in Dallas. Mr. Cooey was born on August 28, 1952 in Tyler, TX, the son of A. J. and Artie (Goodgame) Cooey. He married Bobbie Grubbs on March 29, 1974 in Grand Prairie, TX. She survives. Mr. Cooey owned and operated Black Jack Mercantile for over 7 years. He served in the United States Army and was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Cumby. Other survivors include, his mother, Artie Goodgame Vanover of Tyler, sons, Bryan Cooey and wife Shanna of Sulphur Springs, Billy Cooey and wife Cindy of Royse City, daughter, Jennifer Rose and fiancé Brad Bills of Sulphur Springs, four grandchildren, Ryan Cooey, Nolan Cooey, Britney Keller and Kasey Dale.
